Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel Corporation (Benxi Steel) has stated that the iron ore output from its Nanfen Iron Mine reached 8.7656 million mt in April, exceeding the targeted output by 1.1506 million mt.
In 2011, the total iron ore output from Nanfen Iron Mine had amounted to 100.4334 million mt, constituting the highest-ever annual iron ore output from a single mine in China. In the same year, the iron ore output from Inner Mongolia region-based Chinese steel producer Baogang Group's Baiyun Iron Mine totaled 41.8889 million mt.
Nanfen Iron Mine is the biggest open pit iron ore mine in China.
