Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron & Steel's finished steel export volume in the January-May period this year reached 798,400 mt, the highest among steelmakers in China, according to data from Chinese customs.

In early June, 7,000 mt of HRC produced by Benxi Steel was shipped to Brazil and Ecuador. Orders recently completed by Benxi Steel include 13,000 mt of X46 pipeline steel for Australia's National Desalination Project, 10,000 mt of X56 and X60 pipeline steel for the Middle East, 10,000 mt of X80 pipeline steel for India, and high-strength and cold-forming HRP for automotive applications for Europe. Benxi Steel has also stated that it has been putting great emphasis on the development of special steel and thin specification steel for overseas markets.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in addition to traditional export markets such as Germany, Belgium and Italy, Benxi Steel has lately expanded its business to the British and Spanish markets. Meanwhile, Benxi Steel has stated that it is also paying attention to the South American markets as it foresees a boost in steel demand due to the 2016 Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
