Belgian crude steel output down 3.72 percent in Q3

In the third quarter of the current year, Belgian crude steel production amounted to 1.71 million mt, falling by 3.72 percent year on year and down 3.78 percent compared to the second quarter, according to the Belgian Steel Federation (GSV). In the second quarter this year, Belgium's crude steel output had decreased six percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the third quarter this year, the country's hot rolled coil production came to 1.70 million metric tons, falling by 8.58 percent year on year and by 7.83 percent compared to the second quarter, while its cold rolled coil production declined by 10.15 percent year on year and by 16.08 percent compared to the second quarter to 1.02 million metric tons.

In the given period, Belgian steelmakers produced 874,000 metric tons of coated sheets, up 1.16 percent year on year and down 11.54 percent quarter on quarter, while their output of wire rod amounted to 188,000 metric tons, 9.18 percent lower as compared to the second quarter and down 1.05 year on year.

In the third quarter of the current year, Belgium's stainless steel output remained unchanged on year-on-year basis standing at 275,000 metric tons, while decreasing by 19.35 percent compared to the second quarter of the current year.
