Belarus issues Jan-Nov 2008 steel import and export data

According to the data for the first eleven months of 2008, Belarus increased its steel product imports by 5.6 percent to 3.19 million mt, compared to the corresponding period of 2007.

During January-November 2008, Belarus exported a total of 1.734 million mt of steel products, registering a decrease of 3.8 percent year on year, while its exports of metal cord during the period in question saw an increase of 10.1 percent to 83,600 mt.

Meanwhile, Belarus' steel exports to the Russian Federation decreased by 9.1 percent.
