Australian coking coal producer Beacon Hill Resources has announced that it expects the first coking coal shipment from its Minas Moatize mine located in Mozambique in mid-2012.

The company plans to produce and export approximately 100,000 mt of coking coal in 2012 in addition to thermal coal. Production started at the mine in late March this year and coking coal is being sent to Port of Beira by truck. Beacon Hill will sell the coking coal to its offtake partner Global Coke.

Beacon Hill stated that they will continue trucking the coking coal, while waiting for transportation via the Sena rail line to commence. The company emphasized that the rail line is the preferred option due to cost and capacity. Use of the Sena rail line will allow company to increase export volumes.
