Bayi Steel completes construction of BF No. 1 at Nanjiang project

Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region-based Chinese steelmaker Bayi Iron and Steel Co. (Bayi Steel), a subsidiary of major Chinese steel group Baosteel, has announced that it has completed construction work on blast furnace (BF) No. 1 within the scope of its steel smelting project in Nanjiang in the Xinjiang region.
 
The Nanjiang steel smelting project comprises two 1,800 cubic meter blast furnaces and related equipment. The designed overall output capacity is 2.76 million mt of pig iron. Construction work started on June 26, 2011, while it is expected that the blast furnace No. 1 will be commissioned on April 28 of the current year.
