Baotou Steel to produce 10 million mt steel in 2008

In the 2007 annual report released by Baotou Steel on April 18, the steelmaker has stated that in 2008 it is targeting production of 9.65 million mt of pig iron and 10 million mt of crude steel.

Meanwhile, according to its data for 2007, Baotou Steel's net profit reached RMB 1.75 billion ($250 million) for the year in question, up 161.75 percent year on year.

Furthermore, in 2007 Baotou Steel produced 4.679 million mt of pig iron, 5.857 million mt of crude steel, and 6.876 million mt of finished steel. In addition, the producer's steel exports totaled 773,700 mt in 2007, while annual sales revenues reached RMB 26.773 billion ($3.82 billion).
