Baotou Steel earns $107 million in export revenues in September

In September 2008, northern China's Inner Mongolia-based Baotou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd exported a total of 106,000 mt of finished steel, achieving $107 million in sales revenues. During the January-September period, Baotou Steel earned $690 million in export revenues, up 55 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.

In September, Baotou Steel's exports of high speed wire rod totaled 43,000 mt, around triple the figure for the same month in 2007 - bringing in foreign currency revenues of more than $40 million, six times the sum for the previous year. During the first nine months of 2008, Baotou Steel exported 81,500 mt of steel rails, which became the company's main export product. Furthermore, the producer's newly-developed products such as wide plate, seamless pipe and cold heading steel coil were exported to Brazil, United States, Mexico and Taiwan during the period in question.
