Baosteel’s stainless subsidiary in trial run

Baosteel's stainless steel subsidiary enlargement project advanced to the hot load trial run stage on June 18, 2005. In the trial run, the plant smelted its first batch of stainless steel and cast its first billet. The plant houses a 100-ton capacity electric furnace, a 120-ton capacity converter, a 120-ton capacity refinery furnace, and a continuous casting mill. When the expansion project is completed, the plant will be able to produce austenitic, martensite and ferrite stainless steel products.
