Baosteel Zhanjiang commissions new coke oven

As announced by Beijing-based state-owned China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), hot tests at the coke oven 1B at Chinese steel producer Baosteel's Zhanjiang steel production base were successfully completed, with the production of the first batch of coke. The 1B coke oven is one of four 7 meter coke ovens in Baosteel Zhanjiang steel production base. Construction work on the project was carried out by MCC subsidiary China MCC5 Group Corp.

As previously reported, the coke oven 1B has a designed annual production capacity of 850,000 mt of coke, with an overall annual coke output of 3.4 million mt for from 7 meter coke ovens.
