Major Chinese steel producer Baosteel has announced that two cargo ships fully loaded with its high frequency welded (HFW) line pipes are currently heading for Australia and Indonesia. The steelmaker states that, at a time when the entire steel pipe market is in a downturn, its HFW pipe products are selling very well. In the past four months, its HFW pipe production facilities have been operating at fully capacity, producing 100,000 metric tons. In addition, the Chinese steel giant said that it has been awarded numerous gas pipeline production contracts, in Queensland, Australia, in Indonesia and in Ecuador, with exports accounting for more than 40 percent of its total HFW pipe output and reaching all-time record levels.
