Baosteel considers shifting 3 million mt capacity from Shanghai

Xu Lejiang, chairman of Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group, has stated at the 7th China International Steel Congress in Beijing that Baosteel is considering reducing its annual steel output capacity in Shanghai by 3 million mt over the next decade and would aim to transfer this capacity to Zhangjiang in Guangdong Province and to its subsidiary Xinjiang Bayi Steel.

Meanwhile, Baosteel has stated in a press release that it intends to focus its steel production mainly on flat products and on high quality steel pipes.
