Baosteel commissions precision steel pipe mill

The precision steel pipe mill of Shanghai-based Chinese steelmaker Baoshan Iron and Steel Co. (Baosteel), built by China MCC20 Group Co., a subsidiary of Beijing-based state-owned China Metallurgical Group Co. (MCC), was commissioned on May 13, as reported by MCC.

Construction work on the project started in March 2012. The new precision steel pipe mill's annual output capacity of cold rolled and cold drawn steel pipe is 56,000 mt. The new plant is located on a site covering 5.2 hectares, and includes waste water treatment facilities.

Meanwhile, on May 12 Jiangsu-based Chinese steelmaker Xingcheng Steel Co. carried out a successful hot run test of its new steel rolling project, which was built by China MCC17 Group Co, as announced by MCC. Production operations are due to commence in late May, with an annual output capacity of up to 500,000 mt of steel coil wire.
