Baoshan supplies galvanized wire for Zhoushan bridge

China’s Baoshan Iron & Steel rolled out nearly 830 tons of 12 mm galvanized steel wire for use in the ambitious Zhoushan bridge project. The wires will be used in the Xihoumen Suspension Bridge, which will connect the islands of Jintang and Cezi in the Zhoushan Archipelago. At 5.3 kilometers long, it will be the world’s second longest suspension bridge once it is completed. The Zhoushan bridge project aims to connect the Zhoushan Archipelago to mainland China. In addition to the Xihoumen bridge, the project involves the construction of a 27-kilometer long bridge linking Jintang Island to the city of Ningbo in east China's Zhejiang Province. The construction of the two bridges will start towards the second half of 2005, and should be completed within three years.
