Inner Mongolia-based Chinese steel producer Baotou Iron and Steel (Baogang Group) has stated that in January-May this year it sold 14,499 mt of 310 mm Z-beam, while its sales of the product in the whole of 2011 had totaled 31,628 mt, indicating an increase in sales of 310 mm Z-beam on year-on-year basis.
The complicated rolling technology required for 310 mm Z-beams results in a higher profit margin for the products. At present, in China only Baogang and Pangang have the ability to produce the products in question.
