Global automotive equipment supplier Faurecia has announced a MXN 600 million ($32.8 million) investment to expand its existing Puebla plant, located in the city of Huejotzingo, in central Mexico, the company said this week.

“The expansion we’re celebrating is symbolic for the growth Faurecia [had] in Mexico in the last 20 years,” said the company’s director, Donald Hampton.

The expansion will double the Puebla plant’s size to 20,000 square meters, and it will make the Puebla facility the company’s first interior car decoration plant outside Europe.

Faurecia commenced its operations in Mexico in 1997 in the state of Puebla. Today, it has 14 plants, two research and development (R&D) centers, as well as a shared service center in seven Mexican states.

“The company is committed to increase its production capabilities in Mexico,” Hampton said.
