Automotive sales in Turkey down 11.9 percent in August from July

In August this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 1.37 percent year on year and were down by 11.9 percent month on month to 72,536 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey increased by 1.69 percent year on year and were down by 12 percent month on month to 54,890 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 0.4 percent year on year and were down by 11.4 percent month on month to 17,646 units.

Meanwhile, in the January- August period of this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 2.3 percent year on year, amounting to 555,991 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 3.4 percent to 423,198 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 1.5 percent to 132,793 units, both on year-on-year basis.
