Australia’s trade deficit widens

Australian Bureau of Statistics disclosed that the country's trade deficit widened from A$2.24 billion in February to A$2.67 billion ($2.1 billion) in March on the back of a fall in exports and an increase in imports. Exports slipped 1% to A$13.3 billion in March while imports rose 2% to A$16 billion. Australian imports from the US for the first nine months of the year stood at A$15.8 billion, with China not far behind at A$15 billion. Australia's largest export market continues to be Japan, with exports worth A$17.6 billion for the first nine months of the year.
