Australia's Antidumping Commission has announced that it has initiated an accelerated review of the antidumping (AD) measures applying to certain hollow structural sections (HSS) exported to Australia from Malaysia, in so far as they relate to a new exporter, Melewar Steel Tube Sdn Bhd (Melewar). On May 17, Melewar lodged an application for an accelerated review of the dumping duty notice in relation to its exports of the goods in question to Australia from Malaysia.
The initial investigation, launched in September 2011, concerned the alleged dumping of imports of the abovementioned goods from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan and the subsidization of the given products imported from China. In July 2012, Australia decided to impose an antidumping duty on HSS imports from China, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan and a countervailing duty on the same products from China.
The commission will present its recommendations to the parliamentary secretary on or before August 25.
The products subject to accelerated review currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7306.30.00, 7306.61.00 and 7306.69.00.
