The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service has announced that it has made a preliminary affirmative determination and found sufficient grounds for the publication of a dumping duty notice regarding hot rolled coil (HRC) imports from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The Customs and Border Protection Service stated that it is necessary to take securities to prevent material injury to the Australian industry while the investigation continues. The dumping margins calculated range between 3.4 percent and 15.45 percent.

The antidumping investigation was initiated in June 2012, upon the application by BlueScope Steel Limited and BlueScope Steel (AIS) Pty. Ltd. (BlueScope), the sole manufacturer of hot rolled coil steel in Australia.

The goods subject to investigation are classified under item numbers 7208.25.00, 7208.26.00, 7208.27.00, 7208.36.00, 7208.37.00, 7208.38.00, 7208.39.00, 7208.53.00, 7208.54.00, 7208.90.00, 7211.14.00 and 7211.19.00.
