Atlas receives board approval for Mt Webber iron ore mine development

Australian miner Atlas Iron has announced that it has received approval from its board and concluded the necessary agreements with its joint venture partner, Altura Mining Limited, to progress the Mt Webber iron ore mine development.
 
Atlas stated that mining operations will commence during the December quarter of 2013, with first ore shipments starting from the June quarter of 2014, targeting an initial rate of 3million mt per year.
 
Mt Webber iron ore mine has an initial mine life of 18 years at a 3 million mt per year production rate and Atlas is targeting an increased production rate of 6 million mt per year in a stage two development at the mine.
