Atlas Iron resumes operations in Pilbara after Cyclone Lua

Australian miner Atlas Iron Limited has announced that its Pardoo and Wodgina direct shipping ore mines the in Pilbara region of Western Australia are back in operation following the passing of Tropical Cyclone Lua over the weekend of March 16 -18.
 
Atlas stated that the Pardoo direct shipping ore mine was not in the direct path of the cyclone and that haulage from the Wodgina mine restarted on Sunday, March 18. The company plans to restart haulage from the Pardoo mine on March 20.
 
Cyclone Lua also led to the closure of Port Hedland, the largest iron ore terminal of the Pilbara region, on Friday, March 16. However, the Australian authorities have stated that the cyclone has not caused serious damage in the iron ore-rich region.
