Dubai Investments CEO Khalid Kalban is to open Alam Steel Industries' (ASI) new rebar processing factory in Dubai Investment Park on June 21, 2007.

The AED 30 million ($8.2 million) facility will produce pre-cut and bent steel products for the construction industry.

The factory is housed on a 25,000 square meter property and has a planned production capacity of 300,000 tons per annum, making it one of the largest factories of its kind in the world.

The rebar facility will complement our existing businesses and is part of our strategy of moving up the steel value chain," said Vikram Bhatia director of Alam Steel Ltd.
