Argentinian crude steel production in August rose 1.3 percent, year-on-year, and nearly 10 percent, month-on-month, to 473,500 mt, according to information released by the nation’s steel chamber, CAA.
Accumulated crude steel production in the January-August period reached 3.3 million mt, 8.3 percent down, year-on-year.
Meanwhile, cold rolled flat steel output in the period totaled 143,000 mt, the highest output rate in the year so far. The result is 10.7 percent up, month-on-month, and 22.9 percent higher when compared to the year prior.
Hot rolled finished steel production in the eighth month of the year reached 395,600 mt, 2.8 percent down, month-on-month, but 0.8 percent up in the year-on-year comparison.
The local steel chamber noted the recession that neighboring country and Mercosur partner, Brazil, currently faces has been impacting the performance of the Argentinian steel sector.
