Argentinian industrial production declines in April

Argentinian industrial output in April fell 2.3 percent, year-on-year, according to figures released this week by the nation’s statistics agency, Indec.
 
Indec’s data indicated industrial output at the local automotive segment in April dropped 7.5 percent, year-on-year, while industrial production at the local metal mechanic segment rose 8.3 percent in the same period, year-on-year.
 
According to Indec’s qualitative survey, which measures the expectations of the country’s industrial companies for the May-July period, on a year-on-year basis, 42 percent expect a stable pace for domestic demand. However, another 43.4 percent foresee an increase in demand, while 14.6 percent expect a decrease.
 
Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 60.3 percent expect a stable May-July period for exports, on a year-on-year analysis. However, 22.1 percent expect an increase and 17.6 percent anticipate a decline in the industry’s exports in the same period.
