Argentinian industrial output up in May

Argentinian industrial output in May rose 2.7 percent, year-on-year, the first increase in the indicator so far in 2017, according to the nation’s statistics agency, Indec.

Indec’s data showed industrial output at the local automotive segment in May rose 17.4 percent, year-on-year, while industrial production at the local metal mechanic segment improved 11.6 percent in the same period, year-on-year.

According to Indec’s qualitative survey, which measured the expectancies of the country’s industrial companies for the June-August period, on a year-on-year basis, 50.4 percent expect a stable pace for domestic demand. On the other hand, another 36.6 percent foresee an increase in demand, while 13 percent expect a decrease.

Out of the interviewed exporting companies, 59 percent expect a stable June-August period for exports, on a year-on-year basis. However, 26.6 percent expect an increase and 14.4 percent anticipate a decline in the industry’s exports in the same period.
