Argentinian crude steel output declines in May

Argentinian crude steel output in May declined 7.7 percent, year-on-year, but rose 18.8 percent, month-on-month, to 379,100 mt, the nation’s steel chamber, CAA, said.

CAA said accumulated crude steel production for the January-May period totaled 1.68 million mt, 15.2 percent down, year-on-year.

According to the local steel association hot rolled finished steel output in May was 374,400 mt, 2.2 percent up, year-on-year, and 6.4 percent higher when compared to April’s figures. As for the five-month period, hot rolled finished steel production reached 1.66 million mt, 10.5 percent down, year-on-year.

Argentina’s cold rolled flat steel production in the fifth month of the year diminished 8.8 percent, year-on-year, and 19 percent, month-on-month, to 110,400 mt. As for the accumulated period of January to May, total cold rolled flat steel output was 609,500 mt, 6.2 percent down, year-on-year.
