Argentina’s crude steel production still declining in April

Argentinean crude steel production in April declined 21 percent, year-on-year, to 383,800 mt, the nation's steel chamber, CAA, said on Friday.

Output also declined in the comparison with March, being 10.7 percent lower month-on-month. In the cumulative period of January-April, crude steel production totaled 1.5 million mt, 9.2 percent down year-on-year, CAA said.

The decline in output in April was reportedly a result of technical problems that affected one of the producing steel plants in the country.

Hot rolled finished production in April fell 13.1, year-on-year, and 1.7 percent month-on-month, reaching 389,000 mt. Cold rolled flat steel production in April declined 15.4 percent month-on-month, and 0.9 percent year-on-year to 114,100 mt.
