Argentina’s crude steel production in December fell 3.3 percent to 446,200 mt, year-on-year, but increased 2.9 percent month-on-month, according to data from the nation’s steel chamber, CAA.
According to CAA,
Argentina’s crude steel production in 2014 reached 5.4 million mt, 5.8 percent up when compared to the volume of 5.1 million mt that was produced a year ago—the fourth largest annual production in the last 10 years in terms of volume.

Argentina’s steel industry has invested some $500 million (ARS 4.3 billion) at its mills during 2014 to expand its capacity, increase the quality of its products, raise the country’s added value and expand the quantity of products it offers to the market,” CAA said in a statement.
CAA said hot rolled finished production decreased 1.1 percent in December compared to November, but increased 3.9 percent yearonyear, reaching 421,300 mt.
CAA said cold rolled flat steel production in December decreased 14.3 percent, month on month, and 0.4 percent year on year to 114,500 mt.
