Argentina’s crude steel production decreased 2.8 percent in January to 385,900 mt, year-on-year, and 13.5 percent month-on-month, according to information from the nation’s steel chamber, CAA.

Hot rolled finished production fell 4.6 percent in the first month of 2015, year-on-year, and 11.8 percent month-on-month, reaching 371,600 mt.

CAA said cold rolled flat steel production in January decreased 22.6 percent, month-on-month, and 28.5 percent year-on-year to 88,600 mt.

According to CAA, January’s steel production is normally “inferior compared to the rest of the year, due to the habitual stoppages for planned maintenances.”
