Argentina and Germany accounted for over 50 percent of Usiminas’ exports in Q3, with Argentina representing 30 percent of the company’s exports, the flats steelmaker said this week in a presentation to investors.

According to Usiminas, the two countries account for 53 percent of its exports, followed by Spain (10 percent), the United Kingdom (8 percent), the US (7 percent), Sweden (6 percent), Taiwan (5 percent), Mexico (5 percent), Belgium (3 percent), Portugal (2 percent) and France (1 percent).

In Q2 this year, Argentina and Germany accounted for 48 percent of Usiminas’ total exports, with a 27 percent share for Argentina and 21 percent for Germany. The US also accounted for another 21 percent of Usiminas exports in Q2.

Looking to the future, Usiminas said it aims to be “vertically integrated.” It also said it expects to “reinforce” its leadership in Brazil’s flats market by leading cost reduction in the country, competing with imports, among other strategies.
