Argentina's national statistics office Friday reported an industrial production increase of +11.0 percent in February 2010 compared to February 2009.

Strong demand for cars in Brazil has strengthened demand for Argentina's steel and automotive manufacturing industry, resulting in a +3.4 percent increase in industrial output over January levels, according to the government's seasonally adjusted data.

Argentina's gross domestic product grew +2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009, compared to a +4.1 percent increase in growth for the same quarter of 2008, according to the National Statistics Institute, or INDEC. Gross domestic product growth for the entirety of 2009 was +0.9 percent versus +6.8 percent growth in 2008.
