ArcelorMittal USA has for the third consecutive year received the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award for Energy Management. In 2008, ArcelorMittal became the first steel company to receive the award.

Each year, the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy honor organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through energy efficiency.

"Despite difficult operating conditions, our US facilities remained diligently focused on improving energy management during 2009," said Mike Rippey, president and CEO of ArcelorMittal USA, according to a report on the company's website.

During 2009, ArcelorMittal's US operations accomplished $18.75 million in ongoing energy savings through several non-capital projects, the report said.
