On March 21, Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Anshan Iron and Steel Group Co. announced that as of March 18 its listed subsidiary Ansteel has produced a total of 20,000 mt of 5.0 mm wire rod, indicating the end of reliance of Chinese buyers on foreign suppliers for wire rod of this diameter.
The product in question has already been purchased by drawing quality wire rod traders in Jiangsu, Anhui and other Chinese provinces, being mainly applied in tire cord steel, cutting steel wire and other related sectors.
