According to
US preliminary census data,
US annual steel exports in 2016 totaled 8,448,799 mt, a 6.9 percent decrease from the 2015
US steel export total of 9,084,496 mt. By value,
US steel exports in 2016 totaled $10.8 billion, compared to $12.7 billion in 2015.
Top sources for
US steel exports in 2016 include: Canada, with 4,223,842 mt (down 5.7 percent year-on-year); Mexico, with 3,338,988 mt (down 4.2 percent); India, with 85,474 mt (up 2.6 percent); China, with 72,739 mt (down 13.2 percent); and Brazil, with 52,297 mt (up 5.9 percent).
Major steel products imported in 2016 include HDG at 1,214,019 mt; cut-length plate at 1,052,073 mt; hot rolled sheets, at 684,524 mt; cold rolled sheets, at 582,256 mt; and heavy structural shapes, at 428,450 mt.
