On October 14, the Commission of Economy and Information Technology of China's Anhui Province announced that the province had accomplished all annual targets in its outdated capacity elimination program by the end of September.

Specifically, the province has eliminated a total of 20,000 mt of lead and zinc smelting capacity, 7.148 million mt of cement production capacity and 30,000 mt of papermaking capacity.

Meanwhile, two inefficient blast furnaces have been closed down, representing an annual steel production capacity of 600,000 mt. In addition, eight coal mines have been shut down, with 690,000 mt of mining capacity thus being eliminated.
