Anglo American’s iron ore output up 7 percent in Q1

UK-based mining giant Anglo American Corporation has announced its production results for the first quarter this year. In the given quarter, iron ore production from Kumba Iron Ore increased by seven percent year on year to 12.2 million mt, while Minas-Rio mine produced 1.2 million mt.
 
Anglo American's export iron ore sales increased by 22 percent year on year to 11.5 million mt during the first quarter, due to higher production and utilization of the Multi-Purpose Terminal at Saldanha port.
 
Anglo American's export metallurgical coal production in the given quarter last year decreased by 17 percent year on year to 5 million mt, while the company's nickel production decreased by 27 percent year on year to 6,700 mt.
