Henan Province-based Chinese steelmaker Anyang Iron and Steel Group (Angang) has announced that in late March it received an order for 2,248 mt of steel plate from Shandong-based Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd for application in jack-up offshore drilling platforms. Since the start of its production of steel plate for offshore platforms in the second half of 2006, Angang's shipments of these products have to date reached 300,000 mt.

Angang is the leading Chinese producer of steel plate for offshore platforms. Its products are sold both in the domestic and export markets. In 2010, its F620 and F690 grade high-strength steel plates for offshore platforms were approved by the China Classification Society.
