The Russian steel producer Amurmetall is planning to increase its annual crude steel production capacity to two million metric tons, the company has said in an official statement.

To implement its goal, Amurmetall is planning to complete by mid-October this year the startup for steel production of two full technological lines, which include two EAFs, two ladle furnaces and two continuous slab casters.

In January 2008, Amurmetall started production at the second ladle furnace, while the second slab caster, which was supplied by SMS-Demag, is expected to be put into operation in August.

In addition, by October, Amurmetall plans to increase its first EAF's production capacity to one million metric tons and also to increase production capacity to the maximum of its 125-mt EAF Concast.

Meanwhile, in order to ensure uninterrupted supplies of scrap, Amurmetall has commissioned two press-shears supplied by Italian company Vezzani.
