Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works (Alchevsk), a subsidiary of Ukrainian steelmaker Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), has placed an order with Luxembourg-based equipment maker Paul Wurth for delivery of key equipment for its new blast furnace (BF) No. 2.

Under the terms of agreement, Paul Wurth will design and supply a new generation two-hopper Bell-Less-Top (BLT®) charging system to Alchevsk.

The new BF No.2, which will have a daily production capacity of 10,500 metric tons, constitutes the main part of Alchevsk's capacity expansion and modernization program. The commissioning of the new blast furnace is planned for the first quarter of 2009.
