Alabama steel plate fabricator Blastech Mobile LLC announced plans this week to build a new 21,000-square-foot facility on its existing site that will increased processing capacity to 65,000 plates per year.

The $4.5 million project includes the addition of a new plasma burn/cutting bed, state-of-the-art plate rolling machine, and two overhead cranes.

Blastech is a partnership between Swedish steel producer SSAB and Ontario-based Warren Group Inc.
