AK Steel to temporarily close Zanesville, Ohio plant

Monday, 26 January 2009 13:35:58 (GMT+3)   |

AK Steel's electrical and stainless flat rolled plant in Zanesville, Ohio is set to temporarily shut down during the last week of March, due to the difficult economic times.

In December, AK Steel announced several company-wide cost reduction measures for salaried employees, including an indefinite five percent pay reduction that became effective the week of January 1. AK Steel could announce further temporary plant shutdowns if steel demand does not increase.

There is currently no timetable set for how long the Zanesville plant is expected to remain idled.
