AHMSA resumes operations at its cold rolling mill No. 2 following maintenance

Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) resumed operations at its cold rolling mill No. 2 this week, after successfully concluding an annual maintenance program. The company said it spent $50 million in the past three weeks to keep its cold rolling mill equipment functional for the next operative season.
 
The scheduled maintenance programs included works on the company’s push-pull pickling unit line, hydrochloric acid regeneration plant, Tandem Hitachi mill, and chrome plating unit, as well as repairs to three transformers on the tensioned lines and the engines of the unit’s mills and productive lines.
 
The maintenance program generated about 650 direct jobs, and involved a number of companies, including Constructora Calera, Adimpa, Framesa, Mantenimiento Industrial Sinergia, Cemetsa, Tramosa, Construcciones y Fabricaciones Majoma, Bensa, Sigma, Constructora Región Acero, EMG Automation, Crisa, Paileria Soldaduras y Construccion, Compania Industrial Nuevo Almaden, Arri de Frontera and Frabricaciones Mecanicas Santoyo, among others.
