One worker of Brazil steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) was injured this week following the restart of the company’s No. 3 blast furnace, located at its Presidente Vargas mill in the city of Volta Redonda, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The injury was reported as the company tried to restart the blast furnace, following a 10-day maintenance at the equipment.

The company said there were “fugitive emissions at the equipment”, however, the steelmaker said it has solved the issue and then communicated with environmental authorities about the incident. The company didn’t immediately respond to the questions SteelOrbis sent on Monday.

There were no damages at the equipment, the company said. Earlier this year, another worker died at CSN’s Presidente Vargas mill after having 70 percent of his body burned by a fire in one of the company’s galvanizing warehouses in March.
