A new Indian plant from Toyota

Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. will build a new plant in India to start producing small cars with subsidiary Daihatsu Motor as early as 2007. The move is aimed at expanding Toyota's global strategy beyond North America and Europe to emerging markets also include Brazil, China and Russia. With this expansion projects, Toyota seeks to become the world's top automaker. The plant's initial production will be 100'000 cars per year, with investment likely to total about Yen 12 billion ($100 million).
